Chennai: Tamil superstar Vijay’s claim for a tax deduction for a luxury car imported from the UK has become a big controversy. But now young superstar Dhanush has approached the court seeking tax relief for his luxury car. The verdict will be announced today or tomorrow in the petition filed by Dhanush in 2015. Judge S.M. Subramaniam is also considering Dhanushi’s case. The court also directed Vijay to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh in the case.
The Regional Transport Officer had requested the NOC of the Commercial Tax Division to complete the registration process of the car. That is when Dhanush approached the court in 2015. To get the NOC, the commercial tax department has proposed to pay a tax of Rs 60.66 lakh.
Dhanush was also asked to pay 50 per cent of the tax amount within two weeks of filing the writ petition. Dhanush paid Rs 30.33 lakh after the extension. Following the same, Justice M.S. Duraiswamy had also given instructions to the RTO.
