Dick Williams steps down as president of baseball operations for the Reds – The Athletic

Like so many of us, Dick Williams spent more time at home during the pandemic. The Reds baseball operations president spent more time with his four children, aged 11 and younger, and recently decided he wanted to be able to do it more by resigning from his position on the team he he had held since the end of 2016. season.

Nick Krall will continue in his role as the team’s general manager, according to a team release.

“Dick is a Cincinnati Red through and through, and his departure from our daily operations leaves a void,” Reds CEO Bob Castellini said in a statement released Wednesday morning. “We will take a closer look at the structure of our baseball operations before making any decisions about his replacement.”

Williams, 49, will leave the Reds to join his family business, North American Properties, in a senior leadership role and regular work schedule.
