Dileep to hand over six phones: HC

Dileep’s arguments rebutted in actress’ assault case. Court orders transfer of six phones The order was to hand over the phone to the Registrar General in a sealed envelope by 10.15am on Monday. The petition will be considered again on Monday.

Dileep’s lawyer said the phone was in Mumbai, but the court said it could not be allowed for more days. The court also directed that if the phone was in Mumbai, someone should be sent. Dileep’s lawyer told the court that the phone was his privacy and that he could send it for forensic examination on his own, but the court did not allow it.

The prosecution contended that the fact that all the accused changed their phones at once was evidence of conspiracy. Dileep, Anoop and Suraj conspired in 2017 on MG Road. The phone cannot be tested on its own. The right to this belongs only to the agencies notified by the Central Government. Non-test results are invalid, the prosecution argued. The court ruled that sending the phone for inspection on its own was not the right course of action. Justice P Gopinath is considering the petition for a special sitting. Adv. B Raman Pillai is appearing in court. Another lawyer from his associates was present on Friday as he was in another case in Thrissur.
