(Seoul = Yonhap News) Correspondent Shinseon-mi Kimchi-yeon = The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) vaccine, which the government contracted directly with American pharmaceutical company Moderna, entered Korea on the 2nd additional day.

According to the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team), 1375,000 doses of Moderna vaccine arrived at Incheon International Airport on KE256 flight that night.

The vaccine was originally scheduled to arrive at 2:40 pm on the same day, but the arrival was delayed as the departure from the stopover was delayed by about 9 hours due to airline circumstances.

The vaccine supplied this time is part of the 40 million doses for direct contracts.

Moderna vaccine received 112,000 doses in the first half and 13.76 million doses in the third quarter.

Including the arrival on this day, the amount of Moderna vaccine introduction will increase to a total of 15,248,000 doses.

If you include products other than Moderna, a total of 76.3 million vaccines have been supplied so far.

The total number of vaccines the government has contracted with individual pharmaceutical companies and international organizations or secured through international cooperation is 194.9 million doses, including Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Janssen, and Novavax.

The promotion team said, “We will continue to closely consult with pharmaceutical companies for a stable vaccine supply, and we will inform you of the specific supply schedule promptly after consultation.”
