Bhubaneswar: A young man complained that his chickens died after hearing the noise of DJ music played at a neighbour’s house wedding. According to the complaint, 63 chickens died due to heart attack due to loud noise. The incident took place in Balasore, Odisha.

Ranjit Parida, who runs a food farm, had lodged a complaint against his neighbor at the Nilgiris police station. The marriage took place on Sunday at the house of neighbor Ramachandra Parida. The wedding procession was accompanied by loud DJ music.

On Sunday night at 11.30pm the wedding procession passed in front of the Kozhikode farm accompanied by DJ music. When the chickens heard the loud music, they started to get restless. Some chickens jumped and made a special noise. According to Ranjith’s complaint, the DJ asked him to turn down the volume of the music as the chickens were upset, but he refused. According to Ranjit, the DJ’s music was deafening and it killed 63 chickens.

According to Ranjit’s complaint, after examining the dead chickens, the local veterinarian informed them that the loud noise had shocked the chickens and caused a heart attack in the chickens.

Ranjith Kozhifam, 22, started his career when he could not get a job after studying engineering. The venture was started in 2019 with a loan of Rs 2 lakh from the Nilgiris Corporate Bank. Ranjit said he had asked his neighbor Rama Chandra to settle the matter by paying compensation but he was not ready and instead objected. He then decided to lodge a complaint with the police.

SP Sudhanshu Mishra said that action was taken on the basis of the complaint received at the police station and the case was settled. At the same time, Ramachandra said that Ranjit’s arguments were absurd. Ramachandra’s response was that if the chickens die when they hear a loud noise, the chickens being transported in big lorries on the road will not die when they hear the sound of the horn.
