The iPhone 15 series, which Apple plans to release in the fall of 2023, is said to plan to support Wi-Fi 6E, the next-generation communication standard.

However, only the higher model iPhone 15 Pro series will support this Wi-Fi 6E, and the lower model iPhone 15 series can still support the current Wi-Fi 6.

This information was provided by Twitter user Unknownz21 (@URedditor) Reported by Apple-related media MacRumors. Unknownz21 submitted an image that appears to be the blueprint for the iPhone 15 series.

The “D8x” and “D3y” in the image refer to the “iPhone 15 Pro” series and the “iPhone 15” series, respectively. The D8x will support Wi-Fi 6E, while the D3y will support Wi-Fi 6.

The former will feature the latest “A16 Bionic (tentative name)” SoC chip, while the latter will get the “A15 Bionic” chip. The iPhone 14 series released last year had a difference in the built-in SoC between the top model and the lower model, but it seems that this policy will not change this year.

In addition, the iPhone 15 Pro series will have solid state side buttons and volume. On the other hand, the “iPhone 15” series is expected to continue to have physical buttons.

Although such differentiation is logical from various points of view such as manufacturing costs as well as differentiation, some report that there is a big difference in the number of sales between the lower model and the higher model in the iPhone 14 series. Considering this, consumer popularity is likely to focus on the top models this year as well.
