A dog trapped in a small piece of land blocked by lava during the recent eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma Island, Spain on the 10th, extends its life with food and water delivered by drone.

Spain’s local media reported on the 20th (local time) that the La Palma Island Commission was using drones to provide food to a dog isolated in the volcanic eruption area of Cumbre Vieja on the Spanish island of La Palma.

According to the released video, on one side of the yard around the mountain area where the volcano erupted, a dog isolated and surrounded by volcanic lava is alive.

In a statement, the La Palma Island Council expressed gratitude, saying, “Over the past five days, with the help of local companies such as ‘Ticom Solucion’, we were able to deliver food to dogs using drones.”

The committee used drones to deliver parcels of food to dogs trapped in a small piece of land blocked by lava. Upon receiving the food box, the dog quickly ripped it open using its teeth and paws to consume the food.

“The hot air makes it impossible for helicopters to fly over the area because lava and ash are still being emitted,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, volunteers are working to unearth hundreds of houses buried under toxic ash in La Palma after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma on the 10th.
