UA ketogenic diet is a weight loss diet that involves eating a diet that is high in fat, moderate protein, and low in carbohydrates. Weight can be controlled by restricting glucose and achieving a state called ketosis where the liver burns fat and supplies the body with the fuel it needs. But following a keto diet can increase the risk of heart disease, according to an American study

The keto diet has been found to increase the production of bad cholesterol, LDL, which can lead to heart disease. The body produces energy by breaking down normal carbohydrates into glucose and releasing them into the blood. But in keto dieters, when carbohydrates are not available, the body relies on fat for energy. Studies have shown that people who follow a diet like keto are more than twice as likely to suffer from artery block, heart attack, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease than others.

However, many of the study participants were already at high risk of heart disease before starting the keto diet. Therefore, more studies are needed in this regard.
