‘Domestic unreleased BMW TOP 4’ that you can’t get but want to meet

The BMW lineup currently on sale in Korea includes almost every model produced by BMW. However, there are some cars that cannot be met due to certain ‘adult circumstances’. Among them, there are also cars that will become very popular after they are launched in Korea. So I looked for it. I can’t get it in Korea, but I really want to meet the BMW.

A combination of compact body and intense performance, 2nd generation M2

The new M2 unexpectedly meets a number of conditions to be popular in Korea. Based on the inline 6-cylinder engine and the solid chassis packed into a small size, it can run faster and more fun than any other BMW. The M2’s actual new body length is only around 4.5m. Here, the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo gasoline engine has a maximum output of 460 horsepower. The maximum torque also reaches 56.1 kgm. The interlocking transmission also excites the hearts of maniacs. You can also opt for a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an 8-speed automatic gearbox made by ZF. In addition, engine power is transmitted directly to the rear wheels.

In addition, the first generation M2 has already been released in the Korean market, and the fun of driving the M2, which has been passed on by word of mouth, has gathered many followers. In addition, the potential that was tasted with the M240i, the M performance trim of the new 2 series, leaves a deep afterglow for the M2.

A meeting of superior functionality and driving performance, 5 Series Touring

Korea is known as ‘the grave of the wagons’. However, looking at recent trends, this has long since become a thing of the past. As awareness of wagons has increased significantly, by October last year, 16.8% of BMW 3 series sales were touring versions, that is, wagons. Perhaps the secret to the wagon’s growing popularity is obvious. This is because the utility and driving performance that is comparable to that of an SUV is still agile as a sedan, and the driving feeling is comfortable. The new 5 Series Touring also shares these features. It’s bigger, more comfortable and more usable than the 3 Series.

If you look at the trunk space alone, it reaches 560 liters. When the second row seats are folded down, luggage space increases to an impressive 1,700 litres. The rear seat that folds almost flat and the almost rectangular load space ensure utility beyond numbers. In addition, the already established driving performance and comfort of the 5 series continues. With the success of the 3 Series Touring, more people are waiting for a larger rear-wheel drive wagon, so we look forward to the appearance of the 5 Series Touring.

The ultimate luxury convertible, M850ixDrive Convertible

There is a car making waves in the BMW lineup this year. This is the M850i xDrive Coupe and Gran Coupe. This is because the BMW M850i is more or less the only GT equipped with a 4.4-liter V-type 8-cylinder engine with 530 horsepower at a price of about 140 million won and the highest level of convenience equipment.

That’s why it remains more of a pity that the convertible version is not released in Korea. That means you won’t have the luxury of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with the lid open and raising the top speed to 250 km/h.

BMW 3.0 CSL

Finally, the BMW we want to see in Korea is the BMW 3.0 CSL. The car that appeared to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of BMW M contains a global rarity. The reason is that BMW craftsmen make all the elements by hand over 10 days. Furthermore, only 50 units will be produced.

The closer you look, the more the possessive boils over. From the design, it paid homage to the original CSL 3.0 in the 1970s. The body is based on the M4 CSL, but it looks like a completely different car by adding beautiful color combinations and unique detailing elements.

The powertrain has a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that is loaded on the M3 and M4. Through tuning, the maximum output was raised to 510 horsepower. The highlight is the 6-speed manual transmission mated to the engine. An indispensable feature is that the engine output goes through the transmission and drives the rear wheels only.

Efforts were also made to minimize weight. The rear seat was removed and the body was made of carbon fiber throughout. As a result, the body weight is only 1,625 kg. It is the result of efforts to pursue pure driving fun. How can these combinations not be expected?
