The Doosan Bears improved their chances of advancing to the postseason by winning a thrilling comeback in their last home game of the regular season.
Doosan defeated Kiwoom Heroes 7-2 in the 2021 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League match held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 26th.
With this, Doosan recorded 68 wins, 8 draws and 64 losses, and took the ride with 6th place Kiwoom (67 wins, 7 draws and 67 losses) two games, bringing them one step closer to fall baseball.
Doosan’s No. 1 hitter Susbin Su-bin led the team to victory with a two-run run in the final. Kang Seung-ho scored two hits and two RBIs, adding strength to the victory.
Kiwoom was the first to take the lead. Kiwoom created an opportunity by getting on base with a hit in the middle of Kim Hye-seong after two shots in the 3rd inning. Then, Jeong-hoo Lee batted the ball in the direction of second base, and Hye-seong Kim dug into the home with a quick foot to score the first goal.
Doosan tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kim Jae-hwan’s hit and Jose Miguel Fernandez’s walk resulted in a two-person first and second base match, and Park Gye-beom’s misshapen bat fell between first and right fielders. Jaehwan Kim rushed home, turning the game back to the origin.
Doosan, riding on the flow, succeeded in a comeback in the bottom of the 5th inning. After one shot, Kang Seung-ho hit a double in the left center and Jung Soo-bin hit a home run, giving Doosan a 3-1 lead.
Doosan’s attacking concentration was also demonstrated in the sixth inning. Starting with a hit by Fernandes after one shot, he walked three in a row and ran one more point. Then, with hits by Seung-ho Kang and Kwon-soo Ahn, the score gap widened to 7-1.
Doosan conceded one point in the eighth inning, but did not concede any additional goals and gave the home fans a victory.
