Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan died; Culture today

Tripunithura ∙ Founder of the Scientific Heritage Foundation of India, eminent lecturer and former CSIR senior scientist, Dr. Layam Road ‘Sri’ Niwasil. N. Gopalakrishnan (67) passed away. Funeral today at 11 am at Samajam Mekara Tulu Brahmin Crematorium.

His wife is Rugmini, a former BSNL official. Children: Harish (IT Officer, Bengaluru), Hema. Son-in-law: Anand (IT Officer). He was under heart disease treatment for a month. He collapsed at his home last night and was taken to a private hospital, but died at 8 pm.

He is noted for delivering long lectures on Indian heritage and thought. He delivered thousands of lectures in the country and more than fifty foreign countries. He has a Masters in Pharmacology and Applied Chemistry and a PhD and DL. in Sanskrit. Has written more than 100 books. Bharatiya Vicharadhara and Bharatiya Ishwarasankalpam are prominent works.

Deep knowledge of scientific subjects, Vedopanishads and Puranas made his lectures stand out. In 1999, the Scientific Heritage Foundation of India was established in Thiruvananthapuram. Its headquarters was later shifted to Thrissur Kecheri Mazhuvancheri.

Life was a struggle against extreme poverty. He earned money for his studies by working as a priest at Ernakulam North Paramara Temple and as a supplier at Dwarka Hotel.
