Ravi Shastri stepped down as India’s head coach with the last Twenty20 World Cup

New Delhi: Ravi Shastri has stepped down as India’s head coach following the last Twenty20 World Cup. In the World Cup, India unexpectedly missed the semi – finals. But under Shastri, India reaped many important achievements. He topped the world Test rankings. He also won series in Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand.

During Shastri’s tenure, the Indian cricket team was able to achieve what it once could not even dream of. He did not even win an ICC trophy. India’s performances in ICC tournaments include the 2017 Champions Trophy Final, the 2019 World Cup Semi – Finals and the World Test Championship Final. Therefore, there are criticisms against Shastri.

Former Indian Prime Minister Gautam Gambhir has slammed Shastri’s laudatory remarks after his victory. Shastri said winning the Test series in Australia was bigger than winning the 1983 World Cup.

“It simply came to our notice then. We do not praise ourselves when we play well. It is good that others are talking about our success. When we won the World Cup, no one came forward claiming that this was the best team, ”Gambhir told Times Now Navbharat.

“You made a historic achievement in Australia. There is no doubt that it is a great victory. You won in England too. That too was a great performance. Why boast of yourself when you win. Let others say. Rahul Dravid would never make such statements. Whether India play well or not, Dravid’s words will be balanced. It will be reflected in the players as well, ”he added.
