Drinks from the morning… ‘Escape from the roof’ when the police crack down

People who broke the quarantine rules and drank alcohol at an unlicensed entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul were arrested. The store opened at 5 a.m. to avoid crackdowns, but when the police received a report in the morning and rushed to the scene, customers and employees were caught while fleeing to the roof of the building.

When the police say that they have finished collecting evidence, other men hiding behind them also start to appear.

Customers and employees who were drinking at an unlicensed entertainment establishment in Seocho-dong, Seoul rushed to the rooftop when the police arrived.

[단속 경찰 : 조심하세요, 조심하세요. 잡아주세요.]

The report of illegal business came in at 7:50 am today (18th), and it was around 9:00 am when all 34 people including the owner and customers were arrested by the police.

The owner, Mr. Hwang, in his 40s, opened the store at 5 a.m. to avoid crackdowns.

[이광무/서초경찰서 생활질서계장 : 우리가 통상 23시 24시 퇴근을 하기 때문에 새벽 시간에는 사각지대가 형성되죠. 단속을 피하려고 영업 시간대를 그쪽으로 잡지 않았나 싶습니다.]

Mr. Hwang is accused of registering this restaurant as a general restaurant since April 2018 and operating it as an unlicensed entertainment establishment for three years by hiring female waitresses.

Last night, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the police also conducted a joint crackdown on entertainment facilities and caught about 130 people for violating quarantine rules at two entertainment establishments in Gangnam, Seoul, which were operating illegally.

One business even installed soundproof walls to prevent noise from leaking outside to avoid being reported.
