There have been many cases of expensive vehicles being owned in public rental housing designed to provide housing stability for the disadvantaged.

On the 4th, according to ‘Property Status of Properties Above the Standard Value for Public Rental Housing’ presented by LH and the Housing Management Corporation by Cheol-Min Jang, a member of the Land and Transport Committee of the National Assembly, a member of the Society. It was confirmed that the Democratic Party (Cho-seon, Dong-gu, Daejeon) who owns an expensive foreign car, etc. which is higher than the standard of the holder reaches 246 households.

The criteria for selecting residents for public rental are △non-homeowners △total assets of 242 million won (permanent) 325 million won (nationals) △ car value of 35.57 million won or less.

However, according to LH data, among 609,379 households in 817 public rental housing complexes, 71,233 households (11.7%) owned two or more vehicles, and 264 households (0.04%) owned expensive vehicles which was higher than the tenure standard that appears.

According to the type of house, 26 permanent rental households, 233 national rental households, and 5 happy housing households were followed. In addition to expensive domestic cars such as the Genesis EQ900, 143 households owned foreign cars.

By car type, BMW and Benz had the most with 48 units each. Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Tesla and Audi were also confirmed.

Seven expensive vehicles, including foreign cars, were also found at the National Rental Housing Complex in Wirye New Town, near Songpa-gu, Seoul.

A household in Yongin that owns an expensive Mercedes-Benz vehicle worth more than 100 million won in national rental houses was found to be late even for rent.

Even with such poor management, if a resident who owns an expensive vehicle exceeding the standard value wants to renew a permanent/national/happy housing contract, the renewal of the contract can only be postponed once in accordance with the current public housing business guidelines.

In response, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation said, “In the case of high-priced vehicles, the registration standards are strengthened and the contract renewal is limited, and the number is continuously decreasing.”
