‘Drunkards are not Indians, they are great sinners; Not ready to subsidize ‘| Nitish Kumar | Hooch Tragedy

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that he is not ready to provide assistance to the people who died in the liquor tragedy. ‘People are prepared to experience the bitter effects of alcohol, even though they know it is harmful to the body. That’s very sad. The government cannot take responsibility for that, “said Nitish.

Nitish also accused the opposition of not effectively enforcing the liquor ban in the state. ‘It’s only their fault that they know alcohol is poisonous. Mahatma Gandhi opposed the use of alcohol. Those who deviate from those principles are great sinners. They cannot be considered Indians, ”Nitish added. The Chief Minister was addressing the Bihar Assembly. The law easing the liquor ban was introduced and passed in the Bihar Assembly yesterday.

If the new law comes into force, first-time arrestees can get bail from a magistrate if they pay a fine. If he does not pay the fine, he faces up to a month in jail. In the last six months, 60 people have died in alcohol poisoning. The apex court had ruled that Bihar judges did not have time to hear other cases as cases related to liquor ban were piling up.
