A new nurse working at a large hospital in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, has died on her own. There are claims that seniors are suffering from ‘burning’ that usually harasses juniors.

Oh, a 24-year-old new nurse, made an extreme choice in the hospital dormitory on the 16th. Mr. Oh, who had a hard time with his usual work, requested ‘I want to quit’, but he died after being rejected because of the rule that he had to resign 60 days before.

Colleagues around him claimed that Mr. Oh was bullied by his seniors. They shouted and threw charts. Mr. Oh suffered from heavy workload and lost more than 10 kg of weight.

Oh’s family also claimed that before he died, he was habitually harassed by senior nurses. Mr. Oh’s boyfriend, Mr. A, also testified about the kind of bullying Mr. Oh suffered.

According to YTN report today (27th), boyfriend A said, “(Oh) said he was going to leave work, but in front of everyone, he said, ‘I don’t need a kid like you, so get out’… One time, I threw a ballpoint pen and got hit in the face. said,” he said.

I hoped to be transferred to another ward, but when it became impossible, I tried to quit my job altogether. However, he despaired when he heard that he would be retiring after 60 days.

Mr. A said, “When we heard that, we were angry with each other. They don’t even send us outpatients, but they don’t even let us leave. From then on, we said, ‘I don’t want to go to work so much, I just want to die’…”

Oh, it was reported that he did not respond much because he feared that it would become a problem in his future career in nursing. Even after his resignation was rejected like that, two hours later, Oh made an extreme choice. At the time, Mr. A was said to be having a video call with Mr. Oh.

Person A said, “There was a thumping sound (during the phone call) and there was no answer. I left a message asking my classmate to confirm.” They also revealed the messages they exchanged with the motive.

Police are examining Oh’s cell phone and CCTV footage from the hospital for the past month to determine if there was any harassment in the hospital. The hospital said it would investigate the facts about Oh’s death and internal problems.
