A large percentage of the samples imported in the last few months were found to contain E-coli bacteria and the presence of some chemical residues, media sources said, citing media sources. Qatar had yesterday ordered that fruits and vegetables should not be imported without prior permission. The order will come into effect from December 1. The measure is to ensure the quality of the products and to avoid wastage by importing more vegetables and fruits than required.
