Easing distance and maintaining quarantine pass… ‘8 people, 10 o’clock’ under review

As the number of confirmed cases in the 50,000 range continues for the sixth day, the number of deaths is also showing a movement following the severe cases.

The next 2-3 weeks are likely to be a turning point, and discussions are being made towards easing social distancing while maintaining the quarantine pass.

Correspondent Lee Jun-beom compiled it.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 rose to 61 in just one day, the highest since the 19th of last month.

Although it cannot be concluded that the number of deaths has changed to a rapidly increasing trend, the number of deaths may increase as the number of confirmed cases increases.

“Since the trend of increasing the number of seriously ill and the increase in deaths is linked together, we predict that the death toll will increase gradually.”

Of those who recently died from coronavirus, 92.5% were those aged 60 and over, and 66.5% were unvaccinated.

Unvaccinated people, who account for only 6% of the population 12 years of age and older, who are vaccinated, account for more than half of the fatalities.

For this reason, the government believes that the success or failure of quarantine depends on minimizing the infection of the elderly and unvaccinated people.

It is the position that the quarantine pass should be maintained even to prevent them from getting infected and getting worse or becoming a chain of transmission.

The government is emphasizing that 96% of adults over the age of 18 have been vaccinated, so there are relatively few people who are not vaccinated who will experience inconvenience from the quarantine pass.

Instead, the social distancing rules that apply to the majority of vaccinated people are likely to loosen up somewhat.

“Restricting business hours or restricting private gatherings is a measure that affects the entire population of 50 million people, but the quarantine pass is a policy that affects 4% of the population over the age of 18.”

A plan is being considered to set the current distance of 6 people for private gatherings, limited business hours at 9 pm to ‘8 people, 10 pm’.

The government is expected to announce a plan to adjust the distance on Friday.
