[아이뉴스24 박예진 기자] Unity announced on the 28th that it has acquired Ziva Dynamics, a real-time transformation and simulation artist tool.

Chiba Dynamics creates real-time characters based on in-depth expertise and understanding of complex anatomical simulations and real-time art creation tools. It also provides extensible workflows.

Chiba Dynamics can be used for titles such as ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II’ produced by Ninja Theory, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Godzilla VS. It is used by hundreds of film and game studios that produce movies and TV shows such as ‘Kong’.

Together with Chiba Dynamics, Unity plans to create photorealistic digital characters that artists can access at scale across multiple platforms.

The acquisition will enable Unity to leverage the cloud with machine learning capabilities to accelerate the process of bringing Weta tools to real-time 3D.

Chiba Dynamics’ flagship software, Chiba VFX, digitally replicates and combines the physical and material properties of soft tissues such as muscle, fat and skin. Created with high-quality mechanical and anatomical structures, virtual animals and virtual humans can move, stretch and crouch realistically, without weeks of art work in the character creation workflow.

Simulation data from Ziva Dynamics can be used via ZivaRT to train all kinds of creatures and characters to move in real-time environments. Chiba RT is designed to reconstruct non-linear deformation behavior within the game engine, and cloud-based production is possible through Ziva Dynamics’ machine learning technology.

Meanwhile, Unity released a video introducing the acquisition through Emma, a digital human produced by Chiba Dynamics. Emma’s model has been trained using more than 30TB of its own 4D data, and can create over 72,000 facial expressions, as well as completely new ones.
