Paris: An EgyptAir plane crash in 2016 that killed 66 people was found to have been caused by the pilot’s cigarette smoke. The findings are based on an investigation by French aviation experts. It has been found that the fire in the cockpit after the pilots smoked cigarettes led to the plane crash.

According to the investigation report, the pilots smoked cigarettes and leaked oxygen from the emergency mask. The report alleges that the pilots of the Egyptian airline smoked cigarettes but made no attempt to stop it.

In May 2016, an Egyptian Airbus A320 aircraft en route from Paris to Cairo crashed in the eastern Mediterranean. The plane crashed under mysterious circumstances near the island of Crete. The accident claimed the lives of 40 Egyptians and 15 French nationals.

Two Iraqi and two Canadian nationals were killed in the crash. After the plane crash, they had to search hard to get the black box. Egypt said at the time that a terrorist attack was behind the accident.
