KUWAIT CITY: The Constitutional Court will rule on Sunday in cases related to a legal provision that deprives those involved and convicted of crimes from running in elections. The court took up the matter on Thursday and examined it in detail. The action of the Ministry of Home Affairs in disqualifying 15 candidates who had given their papers to contest the elections to be held on the 29th led to court proceedings. The appellate court overturned the Home Ministry’s action and allowed everyone to fight.
The Court of Appeal, which overturned the ban of three candidates, suspended the decisions of five pending the ruling of the Constitutional Court. This brought the matter to the Constitutional Court. Candidates and political circles are anxiously waiting for the court’s verdict as only days are left for the elections.
