England reduced to ashes in last Test; Ashes series for Australia

Hobart: England conceded defeat without winning a single Test in the Ashes. Australia won the fifth and final match of the series by 146 runs (4-0). Chasing a target of 271, England were all out for 124. England were bowled out for 68 not out. Openers Rory Burns (26 (46)) and Zack Crowley (36 (66)) got off to a good start but were disappointed by later batsmen.

Score: Australia 303, 155 / England 188, 124

For Australia, Pat Cummins, Scott Bolland and Cameron Green took three wickets each. Mitchell Starc took one wicket. Australia’s Travis Head is the man of the match and the man of the series. The only consolation for England was a draw in the fourth Test. Australia’s newcomer Pat Cummins is also proud of his performance in the first series as captain.

The rest of the Ashes series is a major crisis for England. The English, who have excelled in white ball cricket, are lagging behind in Tests every day. The crisis is exacerbated by the fact that they do not even have a good opening alliance as they have suffered setbacks against India and New Zealand at home. Relying solely on captain Joe Root, the team’s progress is putting pressure on the player as well.
