England team announced; Joe Root will lead; Stokes and Archer will play in the first Test

London: The England squad for the Indian tour has been announced. All-rounder Benz Stokes and pace bowler Joffre Archer are in the squad. Both are scheduled for the first two Tests. Both are currently out of the Test squad in Sri Lanka. Rory Burns also returned to the team against India. The English team, led by Joe Root, will play a Test match against India.

England’s goal is to increase their chances of winning the ICC World Test Championship in June. In India, the first two Tests will be played in Chennai and the last two in Ahmedabad.

Joe Root, Joffre Archer, Ben Stokes, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Dom Sibley, Penn Fox, Moin Ali, James Anderson, Dom Bess, Stuart Board, Ollie Schotton and Chris Vokes are in the top eleven. Jonathan Bairstow, Sam Curran and Mark Wood, who are currently playing in Sri Lanka, have been rested for the first two Tests.
