Regarding the death of a truck driver on a pile of waste paper at a paper factory in Sejong City on the 26th, the union insisted that “the management did not preserve the site and immediately continued the work in the same way.”
According to the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters on the 30th, a 119 ambulance vehicle carrying Mr. A, a 50-year-old cargo worker who was injured on the day of the accident, was witnessed before leaving the site.
After all the abolition was cleared, the union explained that the management did not properly preserve the site as the cargo worker continued to work in a manner similar to the accident situation.
A union official said, “The loading and unloading work is not classified as a cargo worker’s work,” and argued that the management seems to have even made the workers clean the inside of the container.
He added that “safety measures are also needed to prevent cargo from spilling,” he added, adding that a separate manpower in charge of loading and unloading tasks should be recruited.
According to the KCTU’s Public Transport Union Cargo Solidarity Headquarters, on the 26th at 9:15 am, while Mr. A opened a container door at a paper factory in Sejong City, an accident spread over 300kg of waste paper.
Mr. A was transferred to a nearby university hospital for surgery, but died the next day.
