(Beijing = Yonhap News) Reporter Han Jong-goo = Chris (32, Chinese name Wu Yifan, Canadian citizen), a former member of the idol group EXO, was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a Chinese court, who was transferred to trial in China on charges of sexual assault.
On the morning of the 25th, the Beijing Chaoyang District People’s Court (first trial) sentenced Chris to 11 years and 6 months in prison for rape and 1 year and 10 months in prison for group obscenity, respectively, and to sentence Chris to 13 years in prison for the two offenses together.
He was also ordered to be deported abroad after serving his sentence.
Chris was accused of sexually assaulting three women in the same manner, including sexually assaulting a drunk woman at his home between November and December 2020.

In addition, on July 1, 2018, he was charged with conspiring with another person in his home and acting indecently with two women.
The court said, “Chris’s actions fall under the crime of rape and obscenity, so he must be punished according to the law.”
Chris was placed in criminal custody (similar to arrest) for rape on July 31 last year.
At the time, the Chinese public security said, “We are conducting an investigation in connection with the suspicion that he lured a young woman several times and had sex with him.”
While being investigated while in custody, he was charged with rape and mass indecency in June, 10 months after his arrest, and was put on trial.
