Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal has decided to field former minister Bikram Singh Majeediya against Punjab Congress president and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. Majeediya has decided to contest in a second constituency in addition to seeking a referendum from Majitha, a rural constituency in Amritsar.
With this election, Sidhu’s political career will come to an end. This will be the last election in which Sidhu will contest, ”said Sukhbeer Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Sidhu and Majeediya were close friends until the Shiromani Akali Dal came to power in Punjab.

Punjab, which has a strong four-cornered contest, will go to the polls on February 20. Election results will be announced on March 10.
