Exploring a Clean Hydrogen Supply Plan Using Waste Resources and Biogas

A New Plan for Clean Hydrogen Supply and Efficient Distribution

A comprehensive plan for clean hydrogen supply, utilizing domestic waste resources and biogas, is set to be introduced. Additionally, there are plans to revamp subsidies for hydrogen charging stations and improve the suitability of their locations.

Research Contract for Efficient Distribution

The Hydrogen Knowledge Group, led by CEO Jang Seong-hyuk, announced on the 26th that they have secured a research contract from the Korea Environment Corporation. The contract entails the development of an efficient distribution system for hydrogen charging stations and the formation of a local self-reliant clean hydrogen supply plan. The project will be conducted in collaboration with Samjung Accounting Corporation, helmed by CEO Kyo-tae Kim.

The aim of this study conducted by the Hydrogen Information Group is to explore ways to support the construction of charging infrastructure in alignment with the government’s goal of expanding the supply of hydrogen vehicles. It will also propose a plan to supply clean hydrogen using waste resources.

Three Key Objectives

The project is divided into three main components:

  • Standardization and Subsidy Reform: This involves reviewing the current status of hydrogen charging stations, both domestically and internationally, and developing standardized types. It also encompasses an analysis of existing subsidies and the formulation of a reform plan.
  • Self-Reliant Clean Hydrogen Supply: Comparative analysis of hydrogenation technologies, environmental feasibility, and economic viability will be conducted using domestic and foreign waste resources. The findings will be used to create a clean hydrogen supply plan linked to biogas.
  • Hydrogen Charging Station Site Analysis: The suitability of hydrogen charging station sites will be thoroughly reviewed and analyzed. More than 50 potential locations will be identified for the establishment of hydrogen charging stations.

Contributing to the Expansion of the Hydrogen Economy

This research project, awarded through a competitive bidding process, is scheduled to be completed within 270 days. Jang Seong-hyuk, CEO of Hydrogen Knowledge Group, expressed his commitment to generating results that align with the project guidelines and meet the needs of the industry. He emphasized the importance of developing a clean hydrogen production method utilizing waste resources and biogas, as well as implementing a well-thought-out plan for hydrogen charging station construction.

Hydrogen Knowledge Group has a strong track record in the hydrogen field, having completed over 40 projects since 2018. These include providing policy support to government ministries, creating hydrogen industry roadmaps for local and metropolitan governments, and facilitating private sector engagement in hydrogen-related businesses. Its expertise and experience make it a leading consulting firm in the Korean hydrogen industry.

[월간수소경제 이상현 기자] A clean hydrogen supply plan linked to domestic waste resources and biogas will be introduced. In addition, plans to reorganize subsidies for hydrogen charging stations and improve the suitability of sites will also be prepared.

Hydrogen Knowledge Group (CEO Jang Seong-hyuk) announced on the 26th that it has received a research contract from the Korea Environment Corporation for ‘efficient distribution of hydrogen charging stations and preparation of a local self-reliant clean hydrogen supply plan’. This service is performed in conjunction with Samjung Accounting Corporation (CEO Kyo-tae Kim).

Through this study, the Hydrogen Information Group intends to explore ways to support the construction of charging infrastructure in line with government policy to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles and prepare a reform plan. In addition, a plan is proposed to supply clean hydrogen using waste resources.

The tasks are largely divided into three parts: △Establish a standard type and subsidy reform plan for hydrogen charging station construction, △Establish a local independent clean hydrogen supply plan, and △Review and analyze the suitability of the hydrogen charging station site, and prepare an improvement plan.

The task of ‘hydrogen charging station construction standard types and subsidy reform plan’ is to review the construction status by domestic and foreign hydrogen charging station type, introduce standard types, analyze the current status of domestic and foreign hydrogen charging station construction subsidies, and prepare a reform plan.

In particular, we analyze the supply status of all types of hydrogen charging stations at home and abroad and devise ways to revive them. We present types of charging stations that are suitable for new mobility models such as hydrogen forklifts and derive from a standard type system for hydrogen charging stations according to the construction of different types of charging stations such as gas and liquefied.

In addition, in order to prepare the status of domestic and foreign hydrogen charging station construction subsidies and a reform plan, the current status of subsidies by type of hydrogen charging station will be analyzed and there will be a subsidy payment reform plan that reflects the a standard type system is being prepared. .

The task of ‘Establishing a self-reliant clean hydrogen supply plan’ is to comparatively analyze the level of hydrogenation technology, environmental feasibility, and economic feasibility using domestic and foreign waste resources and draw up a clean hydrogen supply plan linked to biogas.

In order to comparatively analyze the technology level, environmental feasibility, and economic feasibility of hydrogenation using waste resources, △ Derivation of hydrogenation projects using waste resources △ Analysis of domestic and foreign technology levels and empirical cases of hydrogen using waste resources △ Comparative analysis of feasibility environmental and economic feasibility from waste resource raw material and field of use will be maintained.

In addition, in order to prepare a plan to supply clean hydrogen related to biogas, △ investigate domestic and foreign clean hydrogen production support systems related to biogas and empirical cases △ comparative analysis of environmental and economic feasibility by biogas utilization area △identify candidate sites for hydrogen production associated with unused and newly available biogas △Project feasibility analysis and commercialization plan for each candidate site identified, △There will be a plan to expanding the construction of hydrogen production infrastructure using biogas in the medium to long term is being done.

The task of ‘Reviewing and analyzing the suitability of a hydrogen charging station site and preparing a development plan’ included reviewing and analyzing the suitability of a hydrogen charging station site and presenting development plans. We intend to determine the suitability of hydrogen charging stations by comprehensively analyzing preliminary review, on-site confirmation, and final suitability and propose more than 50 candidate sites for hydrogen charging stations.

This order was carried out by general competitive bidding, and the duration of the task is 270 days from the date of the contract.

Jang Seong-hyeok, CEO of Hydrogen Knowledge Group and the lead researcher in charge of the project, said, “We will recognize the business background and the need and present results optimized for the task guidelines. ” He added, “Deriving from a clean hydrogen production method using waste resources and biogas and a plan to build a hydrogen charging station.” “We will do our best to ensure that research results, such as promotional measures, can contribute significantly to the expansion of the domestic hydrogen economy,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Hydrogen Information Group has carried out more than 40 projects since 2018, including policy support from government ministries, the establishment of hydrogen industry road maps (strategies) for metropolitan and local governments, and a review of businesses private hydrogen and establishing access schemes. This performance is the highest in consulting in the hydrogen field in Korea.
