F1: Max Verstappen “Format change only increases media support”[F1-Gate .com]

Max Verstappen of Redbu Racing said the new race weekend format only increased the number of F1 driver mediam activities and called for a change.

Not only did 2022 require the car to be redesigned from scratch for a completely new technical rule, but the race weekend was also abolished on Thursday, shortening it from four days to three days.

Previously, Thursday consisted of trackwalks and media interviews, but the idea was to move them on Friday morning to allow the driver to leave the circuit an extra day.

But whether it’s official or informal, there’s still a lot of media activity going on Thursday. Great for fans, but not so good news for drivers.

Max Verstappen is dissatisfied with the fact that he was taken to media coverage by a Red Bull spokeswoman and asked various television stations about the same thing.

“I think it’s important how we do our press conferences and media activities. I think it was better before,” said Max Verstappen.

“Now our Thursday is very long. It’s not official anymore, but in reality Thursday is the same or better for us, and even more when it comes early on Friday.”

“It doesn’t matter if you come early, but the day will be longer, so to go to more races, you want to shorten the weekend.”

“But in reality, as the number of races increases, so do the weekends, so I’m actually on the track for at least two days and doing something, so I definitely need to change.”

Regarding the number of interviews, Max Verstappen said, “We have to do this (press conference), then go out and talk to different media individually.”

“But they all ask the same question, and basically do the same thing 6-7 times. They try to pull out different words to make it interesting, but in the end they just say the same thing. right?”

“As you can see in other sports, a press conference will bring together a lot of microphones. In fact, instead of asking the broadcaster two questions each, they ask six to eight or ten questions at a time. And all broadcasters can broadcast it. “

“I think it’s much more efficient and better for everyone, and you can get more from the driver.”
