F1: Nico Rosberg “Bottas has a weak wheel-to-wheel battle”[F1-Gate .com]

Former F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg feels that Valtteri Bottas was weak in battles and overtaking with other drivers compared to Lewis Hamilton.

Much of Valtteri Bottas’ time in Mercedes F1 was spent competing in front of the group, but the 2021 regulation change would reduce Mercedes F1’s competitiveness and force it to battle the midfield team. There was also a scene that could be suppressed several times.

After spending five seasons in Mercedes F1, Valtteri Bottas will move to Alfa Romeo F1 this year. The new 2022 regulations give the lower teams strong ambitions, but Bottas is unlikely to be a front runner in the first year of the new team and is likely to encounter more midfield fights. ..

Nico Rosberg believes Valtteri Bottas will be a “great reinforcement” for Alfa Romeo F1, but feels that the fight for position must be improved.

“For Alfa Romeo, he’s sure to be a great reinforcement to the team,” Nico Rosberg told Sky F1.

“His little race was a weakness. Race pace compared to Lewis was probably one of the biggest weaknesses.”

“I also think that wheel-to-wheel racing and overtaking was a bit of a weakness for Valtteri compared to Lewis.”

Valtteri Bottas’ strength was qualifying performance, sometimes surpassing Lewis Hamilton. At the 2021 F1 Turkish Grand Prix, he demonstrated his ability to take pole position, win the fastest lap of the race, take the lead and control the race weekend.

But in the opinion of 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button, Valtteri Bottas’ failure is due to his failure to show the best form on a regular basis.

“He’s very fast when he’s in good shape, but inconsistent when compared to Lewis and Max (Verstappen), but they’re at another level,” Jenson Button said.

“He was outqualifying Lewis this year (2021), especially later in the season.”

Jenson Button feels that a “new start” at Alfa Romeo F1 is exactly what Valtteri Bottas needs at this stage of his career.

“But he also needs to change. He needs to change his career and drive for a new team,” Jenson Button continued.

“He brings a lot and it’s a new release for him. It’s a new start.”
