Facebook will invest $150 million in VR learning experience

VR is a very effective teaching tool, but if you want to play its role, you must have good content. Facebook (that is, the future Meta) realizes this. As one of its strategic plans to turn to Metaverse, they announced on Connect 2021 that they will invest $150 million in the next three years to popularize VR learning content. Because Facebook wants to build a powerful system for learning and writing in the meta-universe, its next task is not just to create an immersive teaching experience. Part of their investment will be used to train AR and VR creators so that they can make good works better.

Facebook is currently working with Unity to teach creators who are interested in the skills needed for teaching VR content. They mainly use Unity’s Create with VR for Educators tool and Oculus Quest 2 hardware, and most of the objects they teach are from non-profit organizations and teaching institutions. In addition, Facebook will also cooperate with some educational institutions and non-profit groups to create immersive content for them. Finally, Facebook also promised that it will work to increase people’s access to VR teaching content.
