Fair: application of 1st dose against covid for children is suspended due to lack of immunizers

In Feira de Santana, the application of the first dose against covid-19 for children aged six months to 11 years is suspended due to lack of vaccine supply, by the Ministry of Health. The Municipality awaits a new shipment of Coronavac, Pfizer baby and pediatric, but there is still no estimated arrival date.

“There are recommended immunizers for each age group. At the moment, for children, we are only vaccinating a second dose for children aged three to four who use Coronavac”, explained the coordinator of Epidemiological Surveillance, Carlita Correia.

In Feira, the goal is to vaccinate 96,008 children from six months to 11 years old. According to data from the Municipal Health Department, 46,866 have already received the first dose, a rate considered low, as it corresponds to 48.8% of the target audience.

Vaccination for three to four years with a second dose is only carried out at the Rua Nova/Barroquinha Family Health Unit. In rural areas, immunization will be carried out by scheduling in the units.

To be immunized, the child must be accompanied by parents or a legally responsible adult. It is mandatory to present the SUS card, vaccination booklet and minor document – such as CPF, RG or birth certificate.
