Tai Po Police District Assistant Commander (Criminal) Superintendent Chong Sing-yet explained the case at about 3 a.m. and said that at 8:23 last night, it was reported that someone had fallen from the heights of the Wing Fuk Centre in Fanling and was confirmed dead on the spot. After investigation by the police, it was found that the 62-year-old man was a resident at the address. The police found an 88-year-old man in the bedroom of his unit with injuries suspected to be caused by hard objects on his head, hands and feet. He was also killed. At the same time, the police found a hammer beside the old man’s lying position at the scene, and the window grilles in the room were removed. It is not ruled out that the 62-year-old deceased fell from there.
After the initial investigation by the police, it is believed that the two were in the relationship of their maternal father and son-in-law. The family of four with the 62-year-old deceased’s wife and children lived at the above site. At the time of the incident, it is believed that only two of the deceased were in the unit. Zhuang Chengyi said that the family involved did not have any records of family incidents, and no suicide note or traces of raids were found at the scene. The police will investigate the cause of the incident and the motive of the attack from multiple angles, including whether there were traces of disputes at the scene and whether there were only two people at home at the time of the incident.
The case was temporarily classified as “Someone fell from a height” and “Body found” cases, and was handed over to the third team of the Tai Po Police District Crime Squad to take over for investigation.
