Ferrari presents SF71H engine cover to retired F1 Vettel[F1-Gate.com]

Scuderia Ferrari held an event to say goodbye to Sebastian Vettel, who will retire from F1 at the end of this season before qualifying for the F1 Abu Dhabi GP.

Sebastian Vettel moved to Ferrari in 2015 after winning four consecutive titles. He was expected to regain the title from Maranello, but was unable to do so in five seasons and was released before the 2020 season by way of a notice out of force.

Still, with 13 wins for Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel is Ferrari’s third most successful driver behind Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda.

Before qualifying for the F1 Abu Dhabi GP, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Antonio Giovinazzi, and team representative Mattia Binotto, mechanics, engineers and team members gathered, presented the Ferrari 2018 F1 “SF71H” engine cover. Sebastian Vettel won five races with this machine, but it was also a machine that fell into disrepair after retiring after a solo crash at Hockenheim.

In an interview ahead of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix weekend, Sebastian Vettel was asked what Ferrari needed to improve.

“I have some ideas about what is different in that team, but I will keep it to myself,” said Vettel.

“What you see from the outside is just an interpretation of what’s really going on. We don’t have the whole story.”

Sebastian Vettel therefore says that Mattia Binotto’s criticism of the team is unfair.

“There is a whole country behind the team and we pay a lot of attention to that, which you don’t see anywhere else. Maybe the attention creates too much pressure.”
