FIFA Announces ‘2021 World Best 11’ | HYPEBEAST.KR

FIFA (International Football Federation) held ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021’ at the headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on the afternoon of January 17 local time and announced ‘World 11’ selected together with FIFPro (International Soccer Players Association).

FIFA FIFPro ‘World 11’ is an award that started in 2005. Every year, professional soccer players around the world vote for the player with the most performance in the year. This year’s winners were goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, defenders David Alab, Leonardo Bonucci, Hubeng Dias, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, striker Elling Halan, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewandowski.

However, there are also controversies regarding the selection of the winners. Criticism is coming out of selecting the so-called ‘striking striker’ using the 3-3-4 formation, which is rarely used in modern football. However, there is an opinion that a different perspective from that of the reporters or association may be reflected in this regard as soccer players voted for it.
