Fire on the train in Kannur; A bogie was burnt: arson is suspected

Kannur ∙ The bogie of the stopped train was burnt at Kannur railway station. The bogie of the Alappuzha – Kannur Executive Express train which was stopped in the 8th yard near the 3rd platform was burnt. The incident happened around half an hour after midnight. No one was injured. The railway authorities say arson is suspected. The train was stopped and arrived at 11pm.

One bogie was completely burnt. The initial conclusion is that the fire could have been started from outside. The third bogie was burnt at the back, and three units of the fire brigade team worked hard for a long time bringing it under control. The surrounding marshes were not damaged. The fire was first seen by the railway staff. Difficulty in reaching the fire brigade vehicles led to the crisis. The fire started in the same train that caught fire at Elathur in Kozhikode. The Intercity express service is due to operate this afternoon.
