First person infected with ‘Omicron’ in Japan after border blockade… Spread to at least 18 countries

In the neighboring country, Japan, the first confirmed case of Omicron mutation. I am a man in his 30s who came to Japan from Namibia, Africa two days ago. Japan has closed its borders from today (30th), but Omicron was already one step ahead. The number of countries in which omicron mutations have been found has increased to 18 countries, including Japan. The threat is even closer to us.

A man in his 30s infected with the Omicron mutation traveled to Japan from Namibia in southern Africa.

I arrived in Japan via Narita Airport on the evening of the 28th local time.

Japanese authorities tested the man at the airport quarantine station and confirmed that he was corona-positive.

Since then, Japanese authorities have conducted additional genetic testing to confirm the infection with the Omicron mutation.

The man is currently being treated for fever symptoms.

Two family members who entered the country together were reported to be in quarantine after testing negative for Corona.

The nationality of the confirmed patient is unknown.

Kyodo News reported that the man was “Namibian,” but has not been accurately identified.

The Japanese government did not reveal the man’s nationality.

The Japanese government has an emergency with ‘precipitation’, which in principle prohibits entry of foreigners from 00:00 today.

Japanese authorities claim that the “blocking measures were effective”, saying that the Omicron infected people were filtered out at the airport.
