LAKELAND, Fla. (FOX 13) – Florida Polytechnic University is growing. Plans were unveiled at a meeting of the board of trustees of a new 85,000 sq ft Applied Research Center.
ARC will expand the university's capacity to undertake cutting-edge research in science, technology, engineering and maths.
“We need to keep it going with this university,” said trustee Bob Stork with FOX 13 on Wednesday.
New research attracts outstanding scholars and students. It also pays attention to the attention of businesses seeking to work with the best talent.
“The goal here is to attract industry into the area and grow a research park when we put together industry, academia and government to work on common problems because we know that you get the best results, ”said Dr Randy Avent University President.
ARC is the first step towards an upcoming research park. The university intends to break land on ARC in August. It should take about two years to complete.
