Universal Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Focker-in-Law, the fourth installment in the Meet the Parents film franchise. The announcement was made during a CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on April 15, 2026, where the studio confirmed the film is scheduled for release on November 25, 2026.

The upcoming comedy, written and directed by John Hamburg, serves as a sequel to Little Fockers, which was released in 2010. The film marks the first return of the franchise in 16 years and brings back several core cast members to reprise their original roles.

Cast and Character Returns

Robert De Niro returns as Jack Byrnes, the retired CIA agent and Vietnam War veteran known for his overprotective nature. Ben Stiller reprises his role as Gaylord Greg Focker, the bumbling nurse and son-in-law to Jack.

Other returning cast members include Teri Polo as Pam Byrnes Focker, Blythe Danner as Dina Byrnes, and Owen Wilson as Kevin Rawley, Pam’s ex-fiancé and a wealthy stock investor and carpenter.

The production introduces several new characters to the series. Ariana Grande joins the cast as Olivia Jones, a former FBI hostage negotiator who is the girlfriend and potential bride-to-be of Greg and Pam’s son.

Skyler Gisondo portrays Henry Focker, the son of Greg and Pam. Gisondo replaces Colin Baiocchi, who played the character in the previous film. Beanie Feldstein also appears as one of Greg and Pam’s grown children.

Plot Details

The narrative centers on Greg Focker transitioning into the role of a father-in-law. The plot revolves around the pending nuptials of Henry Focker and Olivia Jones.

While the trailer indicates that Olivia manages to win a place in Jack Byrnes’ circle of trust—even surviving the use of Jack’s lie detector—the film suggests she is more than meets the eye. The trailer depicts a dynamic where Olivia rubs Greg the wrong way.

Production and Distribution

The film is produced by several entities, including Tribeca Enterprises, Red Hour Productions, Delirious Media, and Particular Pictures. Production credits include Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, Jay Roach, Ben Stiller, John Lesher, and John Hamburg.

The technical crew includes Barry Peterson as the cinematographer and Theodore Shapiro as the composer. The film’s characters are based on work by Greg Glienna and Mary Ruth Clarke.

Universal Pictures will handle the distribution of the film within the United States, while Paramount Pictures is tasked with international distribution.

The film is positioned as a Thanksgiving release, with its official theatrical debut set for November 25, 2026.
