Foreign media, ‘TSMC’s 3-nano wafer price will be twice as expensive as 7-nano wafer’

It is known that TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor foundry company, will significantly increase the price of 3-nano (nm) process wafers.

On the 22nd (local time), multiple foreign media quoted Taiwan’s DigiTimes and reported that TSMC would raise the price of 3-nano wafers by 25%.

TSMC will reportedly charge more than $20,000 for 3nm wafers. TSMC has set prices of $10,000 and $16,000 for 7-nano and 5-nano wafers, respectively.

According to the report, the price of 3-nano wafers has doubled compared to the price of 7-nano wafers. In addition, since the price of the wafer is directly reflected in the manufacturer’s manufacturing cost, the consumer price will inevitably rise.

It is known that TSMC will secure a number of global companies such as Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Intel as 3-nano customers and supply 3-nano semiconductor chips by 2024.

In particular, it is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra models that Apple will release next year will contain only the A17 Bionic chip applied with the 3-nano process.
