Forest fire in Gangneung, Gangwon-do… Teenager’s kickboard accident ‘drinking without a license’

Fires started overnight in cold and dry weather.

In Incheon, a high school student drove an electric kickboard without a license while drinking and crashed into a bus.

Red flames engulfed the entire building.

A fire broke out in a three-story house in Wangsan-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, at around 8 pm yesterday.

The fire spread to nearby hills, and about 20 fire engines and other equipment and about 130 people were put in to contain the fire in 1 hour and 50 minutes.

No one was injured, but around 300 square meters of forest and a three-story house were all burnt.

The fire department is investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.

Around the same time, a fire broke out in a single-storey commercial building in Jangan-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

No one was injured in the fire, but six people in the building, including patrons of the restaurant, were evacuated, and the entire 260 square meter commercial building was burnt down.

At around 10:50 last night, an electric kickboard driven by A, aged 18, hit a bus on a road in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.

In this accident, one of the two friends riding behind Miss A was injured and taken to hospital.

At the time of the accident, it was confirmed that Miss A was driving under the influence of alcohol without a licence.

Under the current law, electric kickboards cannot carry passengers, and must wear safety helmets, but not all of them were wearing safety helmets.

The police have charged Miss A with drink driving and driving without a license and they are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
