Song Young-gil, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected as the Democratic Party’s candidate for Seoul mayor in the June 1 local elections.

The Democratic Party’s Central Party Election Commission announced on the afternoon of the 29th that Song was elected as the Democratic Party’s candidate for Seoul mayor at the Central Party in Yeouido, Seoul.

Former Representative Song and former Rep. Kim Jin-ae held a debate on Seoul mayor candidates three times from the 27th to the 28th.

The Democratic Party then conducted a 100% public opinion poll on the 28th and two days on the same day and selected former leader Song as the candidate. The percentage of the vote was not disclosed.

As a result, former CEO Song faced off against the current mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon, in the election for the mayor of Seoul.

On the other hand, former President Song declared his candidacy despite the theory that he was responsible for losing the presidential election and was criticized within the party, and suffered ups and downs, such as being excluded from the nomination (cut-off) once.
