Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya “De Vries should not be inferior to Yuki Tsunoda”[F1-Gate.com]

Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya believes Nick de Vries will not be far behind AlphaTauri F1 team-mate Yuki Tsunoda.

Nyc de Vries, who has already made his F1 debut, will compete in his first full F1 season in 2023. The rookie will face teammate Yuki Tsunoda in AlphaTauri F1.

Helmut Marko, motorsport advisor to Red Bull F1, has previously said that Nick De Vries should be team leader in 2023. Given De De Vries’ low official mileage in F1 and Yuki Tsunoda already in his third F1 season, this is a rather surprising statement. Expectations are high for De Vries, especially in Alpha Tauri F1, where he hopes to make good use of the Dutch driver’s experience.

Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya believes 27-year-old Nick de Vries, who is already a Formula 2 and Formula E champion, will not be far behind his Japanese team-mate.

Juan Pablo Montoya, asked if De Vries in his first year could do better than Tsunoda, said that 22-year-old Yuki Tsunoda early in the season, especially in Melbourne and Saudi Arabia, where De Vries is still run I think he will overcome a circuit he has never been to before, but I have no doubt he will be much closer to Yuki Tsunoda De Vries once the European season arrives.

“Last year he went to Monza and he did really well. Sure he’s a rookie, but he’s older, smarter and more experienced than a lot of other drivers who come into F1 for the first time,” Huang said.

“And as a rookie he already has the required mileage in a Formula 1 car. Those things will make his life a lot easier.”

“Yuki Tsunoda keeps making mistakes in the last two seasons and I think Nick has a chance to show something good.”

“Will Nick be able to do better than Yuki Tsunoda in the first year? I think Yuki will still be overwhelmingly strong early in the season, especially at circuits like Melbourne and Saudi Arabia, where Nick has yet to race.”

“But going to Europe and running on a circuit that Nick is already familiar with will bring the two closer together and give Nick a chance to show his skills.”

“Sometimes when you don’t feel the pressure you can perform very well, but when you start to feel the pressure you struggle. I believe we can. ”
