Kochi: Saiju Thankachan has been remanded in police custody for three more days in connection with the accidental death of three people, including a former Miss Kerala winner. The court granted the police’s request to extend custody. According to police, Saiju was chased in the car.

Saiju has been remanded in police custody till December 2. The city police commissioner had said that Saiju was following the models with malicious intent. Police have remanded him in custody pending further questioning after they found footage of him using drugs on his phone.

Saiju was earlier released from police custody for three days. During today’s evidence gathering, the police got information related to drug use and so on. He had received information over the phone that he had abused girls attending parties. The police move is to register more cases against Saiju if the abused girls lodge a complaint.

Former Miss Kerala winner Ansi Kabir, runner – up Anjan Shajan and her friend Aashiq were killed in a road accident in Palarivattom on the morning of November 1. A case was registered against Abdurahman after it became clear that he was drunk. His statement that another car was following their vehicle led the investigation to Saiju.

According to Saiju, he followed his models and friends to prevent drunk driving. He said he had informed the police about the accident. Saiju was not charged in the first phase of the investigation. He was also named as a defendant after the case was taken over by the crime branch.
