Formula E announces Gen3 machine … “strongest, fastest, lightest, most efficient” in history[F1-Gate .com]

Formula E unveiled the Gen3 machine, the “fastest” and “strongest” car in the series’ history to debut in Season 9 of 2023, ahead of the race in Monaco this weekend.

The all-new Gen3 concept, which Formula E calls “the world’s first race car specially designed and optimized for street racing,” fits better with impressive fighter-inspired aerodynamics and a tight urban layout. It features a short wheelbase, and its total weight is 60kg lighter than the current car.

But the Gen3 machine is also the first innovative formula car in history with both front and rear powertrains. The new front powertrain adds 250kW to the rear 350kW, generating a total of 600kW, more than double the current Gen2 regeneration capacity.

In terms of efficiency, the new Gen3 machine depends 40% on the energy produced by the truck by regenerative braking.

In short, Formula E’s Gen3 machine is the fastest, lightest, most powerful and most efficient electric racing machine ever manufactured.

“Monaco is the spiritual home of motorsport and there is no better place to unveil our Gen3 race car,” said Formula E CEO Jamie Righggle.

“Gen3 breaks down motorsport practices, challenges and sets benchmarks for performance, efficiency and sustainability without compromise.”

“We are proud to introduce Gen3 to Formula E fans with the FIA and show the broad sports industry how well elite sports, high performance and sustainability can coexist at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.”

“I can’t wait to see how teams and drivers push their cars to the limit in 2023.”

Formula E has significantly increased the use of sustainable materials in the design and manufacture of Gen3 machines.

The Williams Advanced Engineering battery is one of the most advanced and sustainable batteries ever manufactured, consisting of cells that are reused and recycled at the end of their lifespan.

A blend of linen and recycled carbon fiber is used to manufacture the bodywork, with 26% of the new Gen3 tires being natural rubber and recycled fiber, which will be supplied by Hancock in the future.

“Gen3 represents the ambitious third generation of Formula E and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship,” added Formula E founder and chairman Alejandro Agag.

“With race cars of all generations, we’ve pushed the boundaries of EV technology’s potential, but Gen3 is the most ambitious project ever.”

“The world’s eyes are on the Principality for the Monaco E-Pirix and we are proud to announce a car that has been manufactured in a historic home for motorsport two years ago.”
