Jeddah: The start of the test run ahead of the Formula One Saudi Grand Prix. The test race of the Formula One race, which will feature 20 car racers, including some of the world’s greatest champions, kicked off on Friday afternoon at a track set up in the Jeddah Corner.

Hundreds of Formula One sports enthusiasts from inside and outside the country flocked to Jeddah to watch the world-class races live, with galleries set up on the side of the track in Corniche hours before the start, including women and children.

The test run is designed to help drivers get acquainted with the new track ahead of the qualifying race. The qualifiers will be held on Saturday evening after three test runs on Friday and Saturday. Drivers will be categorized according to the fastest time. These will be the ones to change in the closing speed race on Sunday evening.

This is the first Formula One car race in Saudi Arabia. After eight months of preparation, the track for the international car race was set up on the Cornish shores of the Red Sea. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Sports under the ‘Quality of Life Program’ as part of Vision 2030.

Organizers on Thursday held a test run to ensure the longest and fastest track was safe and ready.
