FPS system maintenance problem service suspended for more than 10 hours-Hong Kong unwire.hk

Since the launch of the FPS system of the HKMA, many citizens have used it in their daily lives. In the early hours of this morning, the FPS system encountered problems during system maintenance and did not resume service until 1 o’clock in the afternoon.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said that when the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Company, which is responsible for operating the FPS system, carried out system maintenance as planned early this morning, it encountered unforeseen circumstances that prevented the maintenance from completing smoothly. The maintenance work started at 2:45 in the morning and was originally scheduled to end at 7:45 in the morning, but the operation was not resumed until 1 pm, and the banks and payment instruments also resumed their services.

After the incident, the HKMA explained that because this system maintenance involves system migration arrangements and upgrades, it is more complicated than previous system maintenance projects. After the problem occurred, the backup plan has been activated as planned to restore the service. It apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
