G7 “Strong condemnation of North Korea’s ICBM launch”… Joint Statement by the Foreign Minister and the EU

Reuters reported on the 30th (local time) that the seven major countries (G7) have strongly condemned North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch.

According to the report, the G7 foreign ministers said in a joint statement with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Rousseff Borrell, “We are very concerned about the unprecedented series of ballistic missile tests with increasingly diverse systems across all ranges. ” he said.

The G7 said that foreign ministers condemn North Korea’s May 25 ICBM test in the strongest terms and urge all UN member states to condemn North Korea’s actions.

North Korea fired three missiles, including an ICBM, on the 25th of this month, right after US President Joe Biden’s trip to South Korea and Japan.

The UN Security Council voted for additional sanctions against North Korea led by the United States, but it was rejected due to the exercise of veto powers by China and Russia, which are permanent members of the Security Council.

The G7, an economic and security consultative body of developed countries, includes the United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Canada, Germany and Italy.
