The kidnapping and murder of a woman in her 40s that occurred in a residential area in Gangnam, Seoul on the 29th of last month was investigated as a planned crime aimed at the victim’s property. The police believe that the suspects prepared very carefully for the crime by following the victim two to three months ago and preparing the tools for the crime. It was investigated that they went to Seoul the day before the crime and stayed near the victim’s office from 4:00 pm on the same day, chasing the victim. They followed the victim on her way home from work at around 7pm and kidnapped her near her home.

On the 1st, Suseo Police Station said, “Suspect A (30) said he committed the crime in order to steal the victim’s coin, and we are verifying the truth.” A police official said, “We will check how many coins are owned by the victim and whether there is actual (extortion) damage.” It was found that the remains of the suspect, namely Mr. B (36) and Mr. C (35), refuses to make statements. The police intend to apply for an arrest warrant for the suspects on charges of robbery, murder and abandonment of a body.

They were found to have planned the crime very carefully in advance and shared their roles. Mr. moved. A and Mr. B to Seoul from another area on the 28th, the day before the crime, and stayed near the victim’s office from about 4:00pm on the same day. The police believe that Mr. C, who was identified as an accomplice, named the woman as the target of the crime and gave the other two the tools for the crime.

An autopsy revealed no traumatic injuries to the victim. A police officer explained, “There is no visible trauma that could lead to death, and suffocation is suspected.” Blunt weapons and syringes were found in the vehicle used by the suspects in the crime.

In the process of escaping, it was also revealed that they avoided police pursuit by using canon phones or using only cash. After kidnapping the victim, Mr. A and Mr. B to Daedeok-gu, Daejeon via Seoul Tollgate, Maseong IC, Yongin, Gyeonggi, and Yuseong IC, Daejeon. During this process, they secretly buried the victim near Daecheong Dam in Daejeon, rented a car in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, and moved to Sangdang-gu, Cheongju. After that, they all took a taxi and fled to Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. During this process, it was investigated that he tried to avoid the police investigation by changing taxis several times and buying and changing clothes.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of ‘contract murder’. A police officer said, “Mr. A says he took part in the crime on the condition that Mr B pays a debt worth 36 million won back,” and “We are checking if it is a case of contract. We are well aware of the seriousness of the incident and intend to strengthen the investigation team in the future, such as receiving professional investigative personnel from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.” Mr. is not A, who is unemployed, and Mr. B, who works in a drinks company, knows the victim, and Mr C does not testify about his relationship with the victim. Mr. met A and Mr B while working in a supply agency, and Mr. B and C that they are former college students.

The suspects were arrested on the 31st for kidnapping the victim in front of an apartment in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu at around 11:46 pm on the 29th of last month, killing her near Daejeon and leaving the body.
