Yesterday, we reported that at GDC 2023, multiple women reported incidents of harassment, abuse, and even a few instances of drinking at the event.
After a period of silence, CDC officially responded to the allegations, telling TheGamer, “It’s very disheartening to hear that some people, particularly women, have reported experiences at side events during the GDC week, including assault and drinking. This is disgraceful and unacceptable; everyone has the right to feel” safe
In the same statement, the CDC offered support to victims, helping them connect with local law enforcement, location security and other ways they can talk to those negatively affected. Still, even if these events are condemned, it raises the question of why they still happen in society today.
