Musical actor Nam Kyung-ju revealed the reason for issuing a statement regarding the case in which Ock Joo-hyun sued Kim Ho-young for defamation.
On the 23rd, in an interview with the YouTube channel ‘Video Mug’, Nam Gyeong-ju tells the candid story of the lawsuits between Ock Joo-hyun and Kim Ho-young.
Nam Kyung-joo said, “I saw an article that (Kim) Ho-young made such an expression (jade version), but I don’t know if it was a sniper. I wonder why (Ok Joo-hyun’s side) overreacted. It’s enough to talk to each other. It’s very unfortunate that such things are happening at a time when musicals should be active now.”
Nam Kyung-joo said, “I don’t know if it’s because my feet are numb, but I don’t understand why he took it to the courts.”
On the 14th, Kim Ho-young posted an article titled, “Asari plate is a thing of the past. Now it is a jade plate.” Kim Ho-young’s writing was interpreted to the effect that Ock Joo-hyun mobilized her personal connections to the 10th anniversary performance of her musical ‘Elisabeth’, as if she had exerted undue influence on the casting. Although Kim Ho-young never said that the jade of the jade board was Ock Joo-hyun, she spread like a sniper in connection with the casting of ‘Elisabeth’.
Ock Joo-hyeon predicted a complaint, saying, “Regardless of the facts, anyone who makes fun of their snout and fingers will be punished.”
In response, Nam Kyung-joo, Choi Jeong-won, and Park Ka-lin released a statement containing three arguments: that they should focus on their original job of acting, that the staff should be fair, and that they should not make too many promises that they cannot keep.
There are three main arguments for the actors. Their claims reflect the distorted reality of the musical world.
① Actors should concentrate on their original job of acting, but must not infringe on the exclusive rights of the production company, such as casting.
② The staff listens to the actors, but for the convenience of some actors, they should focus on the work not flowing. We must also treat all actors equally.
③ The production company must make every effort to keep the promises it has made to the staff and actors working together, and must not make too many promises that cannot be kept. We need to ensure that the performance environment is fair to all the staff actors involved, not just a few specific people.
After the announcement of the statement, many actors including Shin Young-sook, Cha Ji-yeon, Jeong Seon-ah, Kim So-hyeon, Choi Jae-rim, Park Hye-na, and Jeon Su-kyung participated and gathered more topics.
In particular, Nam Kyung-joo said, “Actors were involved in casting, and such cases actually existed. So, ‘Let’s take this opportunity to look back at each other. ‘ I thought. That was the biggest reason I came up with this story.”
